Strange looking diode

Hey guys, I'm wondering if any of you have ever seen a 4 pin laser diode with all of the pins in one row. Or if you could tell me anything about it. Here's what I know. I took it out of a Dolby dvd player, and I haven't been able to find anything out about it thus far. Any info helps.

P.S.- If I sound like A complete noob with this stuff it's because I am.

It's an infrared diode. It's invisible. What you are looking for is the red diode. It has 3 pins in most cases.

I have seen many 4-pin inline laser diodes.

Mitshubishi made some Reds and Red/IR diodes in 4-pin configurations.

It's an infrared diode. It's invisible. What you are looking for is the red diode. It has 3 pins in most cases.

It could be red or a dual as well. I have seen both types.
