Still working out issues w/ yabb 2.3 upgrade

Hi everyone,

I am still trying to figure out a few issues that are preventing a completely clean upgrade to YaBB 2.3


in a way this is not a bad thing, since in the mean time while I am resolving the issues bug fixes are being spotted in v2.3 that I can take care of before putting the forum in production

there is no guarantee 2.3 upgrade will be completed, but someone recently made a discovery that might help resolve the issue at hand.

Does this have anything to do with why I got 403 errors trying to send a PM?

i doubt it, is the error still occuring? that shouldnt be happening

please let me know if it happens again and if so what exactly happened to cause it

hi crossfire, i just tried sending PM to dr evil and it worked

not sure what the problem is

going to do some further investigation

is it a 403 forbidden error or 'unable to open' error

the exact error message will be very helpful

Standard 403 error page from IE. Firefox yields a blank page instead.

that is really odd, do you mind if i try resetting the password on your account, and logging in myself to do a few tests?

if you want i can email you the new password for the account in advanced before i change it

if this is ok, please send me a PM with the new password you want me to use on your account

then i will let you know when i am done testing. if you don't want me to do the tests it is ok, just let me know

it is very odd that IE gives the 403 forbidden error, and firefox gives the blank page.

this leads me to believe the contents of the PM might be part of the issue. the forum might be trying to filter out contents of the post if it detects a security risk due to the contents of the PM (although this is most likely a false positive)

when you PM dr evil, try just typing a few characters in the PM and send it.

also, try removing your forum signature and resending.

please let me know if this fixes the problem.
