Ok I've got another 10440 host ready for sale. I've got the inside diameter down for press fitting a aixiz module in. There should be no need for any spacing foil in this one. The stone in the end is a blue sapphire. Though in this picture the blue doesn't show up as well. Upon request I can change the stone to an amethyst or a garnet. Cast in sterling silver I will include a treated polishing cloth to re-polish upon need. (avoid getting the polishing cloth near lenses. it's for silver, NOT optics)

The cap has an aixiz lens nut cast in place inside it. The tail switch is recessed just enough to stop any accidental pressing. Also included but not pictured is a small plastic spacer with a contact point. To assemble, simply attach it to the back of your module and solder the positive lead to it. Make certain you make the module case negative. You will need a wide vice or an arbor press to complete the build. (possible to use a drill press as an arbor press for this if you have one)

Yes I do. I work for an online jewelry manufacturer. one of the fringe benefits is the chance to use the equipment for personal projects.

This should be fantastic for heat dissipation - silver has the highest thermal conductivity of all metals.

Yes it does. However that's a double edged sword. It can dissipate heat faster then other metals. However it can also pick up heat from your bare hand faster too. This is on the slender side, so it can heat up if you are pushing what a 10440 can output. However set it down for a short time and it will cool back down to room temp far quicker then any other metal.

Thanks. :D There will be more like this. It's definitely not quite "mass produced" and the texture and pattern on each is hand cut so each one will be unique. However I will be selling each of these one at a time upon completion, so I can't promise when I will have the next one. But sooner or later there will be more.

I don't think anyone has offered things like this before. What % silver is this host made of?

Sterling silver, so .925 silver (92.5% silver 7.5% other in this case it's pretty much 7.5% copper) The non silver components are the tail switch, the aixiz lens nut, and a short thin plastic sheath that's inside at the back to keep the battery from wiggling too much. And of course the sapphire cab on the tail.

also, how much silver did you use. what would the price be is i supplied my own silver. in the biz i am in am able to collect.

It requires a module. As for how much silver. final piece has 84 grams of silver in it. There is some waste in cleaning up, as well as leftover metal in the form of a sprue button. If you want to supply your own silver, as I don't know what the content is, I would need to isolate it by itself in a flask. This would require somewhere around 110-115 grams total. Though I would send you the sprue button back which you could reuse if you wanted multiples (the sprue button is a rough conical chunk of silver. weighing around 20 -30 grams) As for the price I would knock off $75. leaving a total of $55 shipped.

its already been processed into .999 fine silver. i had a bunch of generic 1oz coins made. i would be interested in this. or send you 55 for the one you have and i could send you 4 or 5 of my coins.

hmm. I would prefer to cast it up directly from your coins if you would want to go that route. However if you really want I could trade for this host and simply make another.

On the coins, are they 1 troy oz or 1 avoir oz? troy ounces are 31.1035 grams. while avoir is 28.35 grams. I will be needing to alloy them down to .925 sterling by adding copper in the melt so I would need about 100 grams total. either way 4 coins would be plenty. as even avoir ounces will yield 122.59 grams of sterling. The need to alloy down is to strengthen the metal. Castings with fine silver are softer and the threads will wear down much too fast.

Timewise if I am casting with those coins of yours, you would be looking at about 1 week from the time I get them to when I would ship the host cast from them. It might be sooner, but shouldn't be any longer then that. I would also need to know what gemstone you would want in the tailcap. I have sapphire, amethyst, garnet, star sapphire (in blue gray or white), iolite, moonstone, tigers eye, as cabochon style cuts readily available. I also have some faceted smaller stones: ruby, tourmaline, amethyst, garnet, or sapphire in blue, orange, yellow, white, or pink available. I can put any of these in the tailcap, though the cabochons will be larger and more obvious then the faceted stones. Excepting for the amethyst and garnet where the stones are about the same size either way.

EDIT: I would actually bet money on your coins being troy ounces if you had them professionally done. Which would yield 134.5 grams sterling. Which would end up being a fair amount of extra silver I would send back. Not quite enough to get by with 3 coins, but you would have one coin cut in half and sent back as fine (.999) silver still.
