Since I suggested it I'll start by reserving the first spot. Will add photos and descriptions tonight.
Edit: This list is really in need of a dire update, so I'll have to do that soon.

REMODELING

Just updated with photos. 532nms are all out with my telescopes. I'll get some photos later.

I really like the collection thread as it seems like a place where each person can put themselves "out there" so we get to meet them better.
+REP when I can.

Nice collection, Rivem. Sorry to hear about your gas lasers. Back in the 80s I also culled a 6328 Angstrom He-Ne from a video laser disc. It worked great too.

Edit: I was looking at your laserdisc pull again and it is newer than the one I pulled as the laser was a glass one about 10 inches long and was on a large optical table with the various optics discreetly arranged on the table which moved as a unit.

Thanks guys! I'm glad you all like the new section. I've really enjoyed seeing all these collections as well. Thanks for supporting the idea.

Yeah. This one's a small 6 inch tube. I didn't do the extraction myself, but I know it's from one of the much later laserdisc players. I've had it for a while now, and I think I might try to make a portable host for it sometime soon. It's a lot easier and a bit more fun than the bigger HeNe's for me, and I'd rather dedicate the space they took up to more exotic wavelengths.

If only I could run the Argon laser. :(

I'll expose the tube for some technical details later next week. I'll update the thread with power levels as well.

New (to me) HeNe:

1987 Aerotech LS2R. Did some contact repairs, and it works great.

Edit: Not sure of power level yet, but seems to be about 5mW.

That's funny. It is new "to you." It is an 80s era HeNe, though and is probably not outputting as much as when it was new to everyone. I loved those 1970s and 1980s HeNe lasers. They got me started in holography.

Yeah. Saw it in a lab scrap pile and decided to snag it. The HeNes I had before were too big to keep, but this one is compact and rugged. Very nice output, and I think it might actually have near its original power. It actually looks quite a bit brighter than my 638nm 5mW pointer, but I don't imagine it's far off.

Not really sure what I'll do with it yet now that I've fixed it though...

You can make holograms with a 5 mW HeNe. I don't know if you have ever done one, but it is a lot of fun and you will learn a great deal about the different types and how to make them work. There used to be holography clubs around back in the 1980s in the larger urban areas. There are also some great books out on the subject, and if you ever decide to get into it, I'll help in any way that I can.
