Flaminpyro listed this host about a month ago.
When I first saw it I was immediately drawn to its massively exposed copper heat-sink. That big copper heat-sink gives the Tank007 a very unique look, A very industrialized look. Looks more like a tool, or even some kind of weapon. Especially with that tripod.
I also love the fact that it has a center clicky button.
Obviously the Tank007 is not just any, cheap flashlight host. It is one of the better made chines flashlights.
It is sold on DX for $28.75
DealExtreme: $28.75 TANK007 HC-128 HA-III Cree Q5-WC 5-Mode 230-Lumen Memory LED Flashlight with Tripod (1*18650)
After contacting Flaminpyro
We decided that this host would be well suited for a 405nm 8x.
Flaminpyro harvested the 8x diode from a LG WH08LS20.
The LG diode was set into a machined aixiz modual to insure a glove like fit, in to this custom copper heat-sink. The heat-sink it's self, is also machined to have a tight fit in the Tank007.
A Dr. Lava v5 flex drive ,is powering this beast, giving the LG 8x diode 299ma. This bad boy is putting out a confirmed 365mW, with a max of 368mW.
This burner is using a High Powered lens from LarryDFW set by flaminpyro in a custom oxidized brass lens case. This thing can burn and is very dangerous.
When this beast finally arrived, I was shocked at how heavy it was.
Their is so much copper in the heat-sink, that it's point of balance is up past the the switch. Even with a big 18650 battery in their.
All the threading on the Tank007 is top quality work. Multiple sets of O-rings are used. Nothing rattles or is loose. Th switch feels well made, and ready for years of use. The provided tripod screws into the Tank007 and is very useful for lighting matches and other burning tricks.
Flaminpyro was a pleasure to do business with.
All my questions and concerns were all answerd. I was included in on the build process. He stayed in contact with me on a daily basis, to keep me updated on the build.
Every few days he would send a PM, with pictures of the build in progress. From extracting the diode to turning the heat-sink, and the assembly and testing process.
Flaminpyro's work is top notch, and his service rocks. I look forward to purchasing more of his offerings.
