UPDATEDiodes are in. go to post 24 for pix

UPDATE april 14 2011... Results are in. Go to page 2, post 38.

With these results i am not going to pursue a group buy.

Hello guys. this is my first time doing this so i hope you guys are receptive.

but i have made a new contact that can get me new and never installed 35mw 635nm singel mode laser diodes. if i buy 50 your price is 49usd plus additional shipping. if i do 100 your cost is 42usd plus additional shipping.

they are 5.6mm can please see attached pdf for diode details.

any interest? i would only do this if i could get at least 50 sold.

Interesting. So these are not the same as the "sayno" diode's that were sold
in a very limited quantity on ebay some time ago?
At least the specsheet looks different...

Re: 635nm new diodes feeler.

If this will happen in the next 3 weeks, I'm in for one.

Any possibility to get higher powers?

I'd be in for two.
Any more detailed specs though? Current max? Wavelength variation?

Re: 635nm new diodes feeler.

Are these true 635nm diodes, not 638nm diodes? A full spec sheet would be great!

Saw something similar before, they named them 635nm, but they were 35mW 638nm.

Re: 635nm new diodes feeler.

These are true 635nm diodes. i have not tested any. these are not the sanyos. i will try to get more papers and test reports on them.

as to the time line of these, i am not sure. i need to at least get up to 50.

OK, So, I might be interested in one of these if I get my allowance and I don't spend it all on gas!!!

Seriously --- I'm in for one if the GB order is big enough.

Re: 635nm new diodes feeler.

thanks for all the feed back so far.... just a heads up i am ordering 3 for testing.
i talked the guy into getting me some at a discounted price. i will have them in about 1 month.

edit... i just ordered them. it cost me 150usd for 3. but if they are up to spec and can even beover driver a little with out the wavelength shifting too much, i anticipate a good group buy.

Re: 635nm new diodes feeler.

bump....

my vendor just called me. he says the diode mfg is not selling the diode as a 35mw any more. it is "designated" as 30. i kept my order, so i still should have the diodes in 1 month. thank you for your patience.

Re: 635nm new diodes feeler.

Something feels a bit odd about this, doesn't it ?

Why would a diode that we're getting access to be at such a stage that basic info like power ratings would be still up in the air? My perception of the scale of the industry that manufactures diodes could certainly be off - so I'm not really making an assertion here, as much as I am just seeking other people's thoughts.

Though it does strike me that the datasheet really isn't a datasheet as much as it is a general cad drawing of a TO-18, with a quick table added (and for that matter, a table that is missing the most basic of info). ???

Chip- doesn't that feel a bit weird?
You must have a better sense for the circumstances surrounding this diode's history - what do you know about the source?
