I was messing around with this piece of clear acrylic with my laser. I think its weird how the laser reflects off the inside once the laser light enters the end and doesn't pass though to the outside until it reaches the other end. Anybody else who have cool media with lasers and reflections, please contribute.

Those pics are pretty bad quality.

Some really good quality pics of those kinds of effects would look totally awesome!

I've seen this effect somewhere with one of my green lasers, but sadly I cannot remember what caused this effect! Thanks for sharing the photos BTW.

It's called Internal Reflection :)

Fill up a glass tank of water and shine your laser through side of the tank in the water so it reflects off the sides of the tank and the surface of the water. Depending on how you angle the beam, it will either reflect off of the surfaces or pass through.

I'll get some pictures...

That's a perfet example of why the square root of a negative number does not exist in reality. Or rather that the arc sinus of numbers beyond 1 do not exist (translates to sin x never being larger than 1). Arc sine is actually calculated using a combination of arc tangent and square root.

Ok, back to on topic. Take a look at this page and click "Next Scene" in the flash animation and drag the slider. Observe what happens when the incoming ray is very incient to the surface.

I've found I can get that effect in most glass or similar materials, such as tables and rods. It's one of my favorite things to do with my greenies! :p

I did that with my greenie in a pink glass rod and the green beam turned red and still came out the other side green, there are some pictures somewhere around here on the forum, or you can see them on my site http://www.thejunkmonger.org I think they are in the blog section.

Wow, thanks for the refraction lesson! Kinda off topic with refractions, but thought I would post some lasers and reflections! :p

OMG, here we go again. Yeah, Idiot already clowned me. Let's not go there mKay? ;D

You started it, Switch, with your light saber picture! :p

Because of people like VillageIdiot, other people are afraid of posting pictures of themselves. [smiley=evil.gif]"Why hide behind a wall?" - another members post. That's funny though to even point that out. I thought it was kind of obvious and I wasn't hiding it. I just loved the beam shot.
