Here is some data that should help experimenters.. I got this from a laser diode from a recent GB batch. If you send me a few diodes of any type (GB red for example), I can generate a plot like this for you.

That seems to be almost perfectly linear...I wonder where the knee is.

From what I've read it seems that most of the 'got it working' PS3 diodes which have since died, did so at around 48-50mA. I suppose then that the P/I/V remains close to linear until COD.

I'll have to be sure to get in on the next GB so I can play with some 405.

i'm just curious, since i haven't a clue, but how does that graph help? does it somehow tell me where it starts lasing? I'd love to know how this could help me, lol.

Great graph! I'm curious how much higher it would go. I have had one up to 62mA (since backed down to 40mA). Thanks for posting this!
