real 700mw!?

Those are NOT the most powerful hand-held GREEN LASERS. That honor goes to the LASERGLOW HERCULES LASER. They are selling one right now that peaks at 990mW's

IIRC, The LASERGLOW HERCULES is in the GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS. Freak Lasers is pullin' your leg when they say THEY have the MOST POWERFUL HANDHELD LASER. They outta be busted for false advertising..........

That one at that FreakLasers site just looks like a Viasho unit to me. I'm fairly sure they aren't at 600mW average yet (besides freak models, but hey, maybe the site name answers that one for me, lol).

There's about 20 different manufacturers of RPL style lasers that all look basically alike with just very minor differences, isn't there ?????

RPL seems to of become very generic these days, seems to mean any big portable green. But where it comes from is the Optoronics RPL, and those are manufactured by Viasho.

There's heaps of resellers of these units, each reseller might make minor adjustments to the unit and conduct different quality control tests, but to the best of my knowledge all the lasers that are that model are manufactured by Viasho.

I think many of the Generic resellers' "RPL" lasers are clones (not exact copies) of the Viasho manufactured RPL sold at Optotronics.

The term "RPL" does not mean any of the larger, high power, portable lasers.
When referring to Viasho's laser I use RPL.
(Optotronics is the only reseller I know of that sells genuine RPLs)
When referring to CNI's portables, I use PGL.
(Laserglow's "Aries," Dragonlasers' "Hulk" & "Hulk Ultra")
There are significant differences (button color, aperture shutter, safety features, heat-sink design, etc.) that I think many overlook- so they all get grouped under the same label.
The generic units look the same at first glance, but upon closer inspection you will be able to spot differences.

I try to distinguish between the different brands for clarity's sake.

Anyway, on topic: It is possible to produce such a high powered green, but they are uncommon. The LG Herc is the ONLY portable built to sustain >500mW of (pure) green over an extended period.

The laser pictured on their website looks like an RPL clone.
Just reading the product description is enough to keep me away. Very unprofessional.

Yes, CNI and Viasho are completely different companies that manufacturer completely different model lasers.

RPL is not the term used by Viasho though. 'RPL' is the name given by Optotronics to the laser, in exactly the same way that Dragonlasers call the CNI PGL a 'Hulk'. The term 'RPL' is just a name Optotronics uses for that certain Viasho unit when they resell them, nothing more.

o-like also resells the same Viasho unit as the Optotronics RPL, and DealExtreme does as well. Exactly the same model of laser from exactly the same manufacturer, and the same is the case here with this 'Freaklasers' company. The difference is what the reseller might do with the unit, such as the quality control and some parts may be replaced (the Optotronics RPL has a better pump diode).

So it's not an 'RPL clone' since it is still the exact same model of laser from the exact same manufacturer in both cases, just the difference is how rigorously the reseller tests the laser and the support they provide.

wow if i find 7000 bucks today i´m going to buy this 990mw hercules murder weapon! :san:

are there any vids or pics of beamshots around? i MUST see them!!

the hercules 475 is the strongest handheld i can find at youtube...

The Hercules-800 isn't exactly prodiced like the other Hercules are, so I didn't expect any of that power to be on video, but any green laser at that power will have similar brightness.
