Hi,
I have a porblem with my laser pointer.
The laser pointer is:
Max Output <300mW
Wavelength 532 nm
Class III Laser Product
This product complies with 23 CFR
chapter 1 subchapter J.

The laser pointer is from Thailand, my aunt brought him to me.
But the laser pointer can not light a match or put a black thing to smoke.
The laser pointer is too weak?
I have two new batteries in it!

Pls help me.

Sry for my bad English.

Greetings

If you can post a picture of your laser, it would be of great help.

300mW green laser should be able to light matches no problem, and cut through thin plastic garbage bags in instant.

Though 300mW green laser would cost around $300-400 and maybe more if we are talking CNI - grade quality ...

So I made two pictures of my laser pointer.
Here is the link:
ImageShack Album - 2 images

I hope you can help me now =)

/e: In the night but you can also really see the beam.
I was in the photos my room darkening not quite.
If you like what I do again one tonight.

Greetings

Classic new-wish style pen.

First, it's not 300mW. If it were, it would weight 1 kg :p

Second, it's maybe more like 30 mW laser unit, which will certanly not burn anything.

See what's the price and looks of real 300mW unit:
300mW New portable Green laser torch/IR filtered [OLNGL300] - $339.00 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

You get the point.

Your laser is most likely meant to be lower power pointer, not burner.

Although there are few burner laser pens, they are generaly very expensive, like these:
Optotronics Green Pen Pointers

As you can see, 150mW green pen costs around $200 on that site.

Here:
Green Laser Pointer ----- 532nm Laser ----- Viper Series Lasers :: Handheld Lasers :: Dragon Lasers

160mW unit costs $450 .

To do any kind of burning with your laser pen, it must be at least 70-80 mW.

Which costs a lot. You can see that the price is more than to make somebody think "I will buy this as a gift".

Sorry but your laser was never meant to burn I think.
It can be anywhere from 1 to 50 mW output power.

I can't say much more than that.
