The idea for this thread came a couple weeks ago while photographing my new (to me) 473nm labby. I thought it'd be fun to compile a thread of pictures showing rare, exotic, or uncommon wavelengths. The only "rule" is that any photo posted must contain one or more "rare, exotic, or uncommon" wavelength which I've defined as anything that isn't one of the following common wavelengths:

405
445/447
532
635 that is under 10mw (since 5mw diodes can be bought for 3-4 bucks)
650/660

There are two exceptions to the above.

1. it's in the same photo as a rare/exotic. i.e. a rainbow containing a 589nm.

2. It's being used as a comparison. i.e. a 473 being compared to a 445.

My two contributions aren't exactly rare or exotic but fairly uncommon to most people. If flickr is being stupid and the images don't show up try a "super reload" which depending on your browser is either shift-reload or alt (option on a Mac)-reload. That will fix it 99% of the time.

135mw 532nm and 2mw 543.5nm.

I think I have some more somewhere. Need to dig through my TBP folder in Aperture.

Here are my two contributions :D

First is a six color rainbow. From right to left: 5mW 405, 69mW 473, 5mW 532, 5mW 593.5, 5mW 635, and last is 5mW 660. :D

Second is a 500mW 808 infrared in fog. :D Seems my camera actually picked up an IR beamshot :D

Sorry I haven't been posting much real life is getting in the way of things again.

That 561 is a unique WL for sure.

RA-

Sweet pic with the numbers "written" with the laser dot!

Steve001-

As quemfox said it's HeNe that I got it and the 12v HV PSU for it off fleabay for about $95 shipped. I made a power adapter (there's a thread int he gas lasers forum about my 12v supply search/solution) that was supposed to go from that 12v supply you see blocking the annoying LEDs from the 473's PSU but it puts out ~.2A less than the PSU requires so it's currently powered off the supply in an old external HD enclosure that you can see sitting on my chair. I'm either going to order the 5A version of that same 12v supply or rip the supply out of the drive enclosure and put it in an extra rat shack project box I have laying around. Since I don't have a dremel or something similar to make nice cutouts in the box I'll probably order the 12v supply whenever I have some spare cash which may be awhile.

Be nice to have something I could contribute but I only have a 515 and 520 and they are pretty common in this forum. They used to be so expensive. Out of all the wavelengths I've seen ever posted here the one I would want the most is a 100mW 589nm.
Health circumstances have killed the $ so I'm on serious lock-down. Just getting by now. I used to be very active especially with small 532nm builds and encouraging/giving where I could.
Members have asked me what actually happened that I pretty much dropped out for awhile and I'm trying to decide whether to post the "story" for everyone to see or just in the vet section or not post it at all. I never stopped giving my monthly donation as I got a lot out of being a member here.
Not sure why I just posted all of that.....
Nice to see some really classy looking pen hosts and great idea on the thread. +REP to the thread starter;)

30mW 561nm! Next to a good ol' 532 for comparison.

Where would one source a 561nm module? Looks like a wavelength you might hate or really like. It's not quite yellow but not really green.
While I think 500.1 would be nice to see I've heard someone here on LPF say who has seen it its an ugly color. I can't remember what thread.
Personally 488nm is perfection :)
