One of the messages on the side of a truck that is part of the Trucker Convoy protest. :ROFLMAO: The truckers are driving from all over the country to Ottawa this week to protest against mandatory vaccines:

Nope.
Republicans are anti tyranny and pro science.
You are only pro " democratic science " which is not real science.
"Republicans are anti tyranny and pro science" is a phrase I'd love to see proof to back up.

I don't think any of the overarching GOP platform is pro-science nor anti-science for that matter. But this could be cleared up if we look at the party's manifesto:
Nope, not one mention of science or anything science-related.

Not sure why this should even really be a debate. Science should be left to scientists, in my opinion. Maybe I'm biased. ;)

If political policy were informed by science, that would be great, but ideally, we should be in a place where politicians aren't debating the validity of science but rather debating how what we know about the natural world should affect policies or not. For example, evolution - if the science says that organisms evolve over many generations into different species depending on which randomized traits aid in survival, how should that inform political policy? I believe that it has nothing to do with politics, so politicians should simply zip it when it comes to evolution. Probably most debates that cross-pollinate science and politics fall under the same umbrella of "just shut up about it," mostly because politicians in general seem horribly ill informed about science, especially when it comes to really new science. I'm sure you could get a republican and a democrat in a room together and they could argue for hours about covid without prompting, but I wouldn't expect either of them to be particularly well-informed about it. If you took two epidemiologists and put them in a room together, they'd probably rather talk about something else anyway, but I doubt there would be much debate over covid facts, even if they disagreed on policy.

Political parties in general have historically gone anti-science whenever they assumed inappropriate amounts of power. Whether it was the fascists with their faulty eugenics or the communists with their "you can smelt high quality iron from random rocks in your backyard fire pit," the problem arises once belief in a political objective becomes stronger than belief in one's own rational thought. Left, right, or center, if you get too extreme, you are going to start introducing stupidity to cover the shortcomings in your beliefs, and that's where we run into trouble.

And in the USA, whichever political party ends up on the ropes struggling for more power ends up becoming the most anti-science of the time.

That is hilarious! Republicans claim that since the CDC changes the standards that that isn't real science. Nothing could be further from the truth. Science changes all the time with what the data shows.

Republicans have always been the fascist party. Back when FDR was talking about his New Deal Republicans sought to overthrow his presidency by approaching veterans to do that for them. But, the General they approached told them he would fight then all the way. 🤣

It has now been reported that SC Justice Stephen Breyer is going to retire at the end of this term while the Democrats and Biden are still able to insure his replacement. This should please progressives as they have been pushing for this. :)

Democrats seem to ignore science when it comes to the existence of fetal pain and the role cosmic rays play in cloud formation as well as C02 following temp change and not preceding it and so much more when it comes to " global warming " Democrats believe in selective science and politically skewed science.

The problem for Republicans concerning science is not what they believe, is that anti-Republican media and radical progressives are pushing a dishonest narrative, but remember it was Democrats who opposed Trumps vaccine when Trump was in office.

Breyer is a liberal anyway, won't change the balance very much, however Biden promising to appoint only a black woman is racist and sexist.

Today is the day LaVoy Finicum was murdered 6 years ago on Jan 26th 2016 for his part in taking a stand against the Bureau of Land Management pushing ranchers off their grazing rights land which the Federal government was never meant to control.

🤣 Yeah, this will change things as the people who voted for Biden don't see appointing a Black woman to the court as racist. This will advance Biden's agenda among these voters and it will change the court even if you cannot see that.

The BLM has been in charge of federal lands for many decades. Many people see tese lands as theirs and not the federal government, but that has never been the case.

Oh, like I said, politicians are often knuckleheads when it comes to anything to do with interpreting information. What I took exception with was the claim that the GOP is somehow the party that embraces science. I guess I don't see it. It's not in their mission statement, it's never brought up once in their platform, and it's not anything I can really recall from the GOP pointing out. I'm of the opinion that the people who have trouble understanding science are the politicians in general.

Most politicians likely don't have a background in science, but democrats are only exploiting the word " science " to push an agenda in the recent case.
Ironically they are ignoring a lot of science about COVID and natural immunity.
Pretty much they just say anything.

You're such a hypocrite, appointing someone based on race/gender is racism, all the science in the world says so, but as usual with you progressive extremist, everything you pretend to stand against is bullshit, it's all just a means to an end, but you will never have your socialist utopia as there's not enough money to pay for it, all it would do is make everyone poorer and less free.

Justice Thomas is a Great Justice, I often admire what he says and I am happy we have him on the court, his skin color makes no difference to me, but nobody should be excluded from consideration based on race/gender which is what Biden has promised to do.

No, there has never been a Black woman on the SCOTUS and many people believe it is passed time for one to be appointed as they make up more than 15% of all people in the U.S. Trump had no problems claiming every nominee he put forward would act to overturn Roe v Wade.....even though everyone of them said that was settled law. That is the definition of a hypocrite.

It's perfectly fine for anyone to not have a background in science. The trouble I have with politicians is that they so often claim to know the science better than the scientists do, as you pointed out Democrats do this a lot, but my perception is that Republicans do it a lot, too.

Pointing at a belief and calling it "science" is, well, by definition, pseudoscience, and that's exactly the problem with a lot of the situation we are in these days.

What's this about natural immunity?

Huh, what are you saying "no" to? @RedCowboy just pointed out that gender and ethnicity should not be considered at all when choosing a person to do a job. I 100% agree. Imagine if you were given a job and your boss or HR department mentioned that you got the job because they had to fulfill a quota - how would you feel about that? Isn't that a backhanded way of telling you that you were not qualified for the job?!

You democrats can't even respect our Constitution much less settled law.

You don't understand the definition of " hypocrite " yet you are a hypocrite, how ironic.
