Poetry Thread

So I searched the forums and found that nobody has made a poetry thread. So I figured I'd start one. This is strictly for poems that you have written yourself. And no suggesting changes to people's work unless they are asking for help.

I'll start it off with one I wrote last year:

***Getting By***

How will I excel, if I don't take chances?
How will I tell, if I just take glances?
Down to the deepest part,
So where do I start,
To begin to change,
All the parts of my life that I need to rearrange?

You don't know, what I'm thinking.
My head is high, but slowly I'm sinking.
My lack of self control,
Opens the hole in my soul,
And it eats at me.
Even though I seem happy.

I like to think, that it's all worthwhile.
Shake it off, and fake a smile.
But things never go right,
Even though you try to fight,
To make the best of it all.
God, it's so hard to stand tall.

I struggle so hard, to pull it together,
No matter how much, I'm under the weather.
Some of the time, it's almost too much.
Reaching out with nothing to clutch,
Except for that one hope,
That allows you to cope.

I wrote this around 10 years ago.

***A Valiant Fate***

Blood-curdling screams can be heard in the distance,
Resistance is futile, and so ends your existence.
Look your beholder in the eye,
Try to be valiant, for on he you will rely.

Attack with your all, survive and win,
Sin is required, for this battle you’re in.
So take the long walk, along the dirt and gravel,
Travel and conquer, your enemy’s fate will unravel.

Take your sword from its sheath, and your shield from your side,
Ride out on your horse, to where warriors cried.
When you arrive at last, send them to hell,
Rebel and spread blood, and you will do well.

You must not fall, you must show your might,
Fight to the end, and ride into the night.
You arrive at your home, and much to your surprise,
Eyes are cast upon you, in agonizing demise.

You’re greatly outnumbered, you don’t stand a chance,
Glance towards the heavens, to there you will advance.
As your life ends, you look back on your past,
Cast away your fears, for this breath was your last.

Alien

There’s something inside of me,
Causing me such distress.
I hope it doesn’t make me sick,
The floor would be a mess.

I took a couple Rolaids,
Just to ease the pain.
But the hurt was so enormous,
It was making me go insane.

They say it could be Malaria,
Tetanus, Lockjaw, or Rabies.
They also say it was the flu,
Possibly Rickets or Scabies.

But when that bugger burst through,
I knew how wrong they had been.
For when it burst through my chest,
I found myself a friend.

wrote this a couple years ago, inspired by my job.

I wake up every morning
to a world that's full of pain
is it all worth saving
or is it all in vain

some are scared of dying
while other do not care
I see it when they're crying
I see it in their stare

When god has played his game
and it's time for you to go
I'll be there to stop him
to tell him flat out, no.

So when the world goes dim
and you think your going to die
although I may not save you
I certainly have to try

for I am just a man
someone who came to save
I always have a plan
I'll keep you from your grave

I did this for a reason
a reason just for me
to save a person's life
so that mine was meant to be

A small diode from a TV
