Hi all

I had some 780nm diodes left over from harvested sleds and have decided to build a 780nm laser.
My DX Dilda red laser has short-circuit inside and burnt the driver and the red diode. So I use this host for the build.
All the components are removed from the pcb and I use the LM317T for the new driver. The current was set op 224mA by a 5.5Ohm resistor. I didn't want to heat up the 1/4Watt resistor too much.

The famous Dilda laser :D

Flexdrive and Jib driver to compare the original driver.

Plenty of room to use the LM317 ic. It was place on a sticky heatpad.

The burn mark from the short-circuit is still there.

Ready to lase

A tiny red spot burning the paper. A very small smoke is seen :D

I hope you like it and be carefull with the invisible 780nm laser.

It has 160mW output measured with the Ophir LPM.
That was a long time ago I have build that 780nm laser. I have another 780nm diode in the C6 host. I don't use much of them. The dot and beam are invisible and the burning isn't impressive.
But I build it for my wavelength collection.
