I have heard that the red diode that comes in the PHR-803T sleds are capable of 240mW. I would like confirmation that this is possible and at this mW would the lifetime be very low or quite high?
240 mW? Where did you see this info?
The red/IR combo diode is more around 40 /50 mW on the red side, and it may be even less. Trust me, if these were 240 mW, people wouldn't throw them away like they do now.
The red/IR diode in PHR-803Ts are generally very weak. The 240mw diode you are referring to is probably from the LPC-815 sled. The diode in the LPC-815 can output up to 250mw of 650nm red.
LOL, no ..... the PHR-803T sled have inside two different diodes, one is the blue (405nm) one, commonly referred on this forun as PHR diode ..... the other is a 4-pins diode that combine inside two different chips, an IR one for the cd function, and a red one for the dvd function .....
I got at maximum 55 mW, til now, from the red one, but 40 / 45mW seem a good approximation, and here this mean low power ..... never made tests, anyway, also cause at this power, they become hot quickly and this don't indicate high powers, usually .....
The PHR-803T sled has one powerful violet laser diode and one weak red/IR laser diode. The LPC-815 sled has one powerful red laser diode and one medium powered IR diode. The red laser diode from this sled can safely go to 300mW with a good lens, or about 250mW with a typical Aixiz acrylic lens.
