Looking good. Thanks for sharing the information. The diode have a maximum output of almost twice the nominal power. Just like the PL520 diode.

Crap. I destroyed another microboost. Well, it may me repairable, but not for me. I hate SMD. I love caffiene too much...

I've got more on the way, and will set it to 280mA, just like my PL450. The jumper setting to get 300mA has become a nice way for me to destroy these drivers.

So I hope to have another single mode ready by early next week.

Microboost?? You don't want to use one of those with this diode.

Microboost?! From what do you wanna boost 1.5V AA battery :na: (I dont even know if they boost from so low voltages:shhh:)

I think the cheapest and easiest driver would be a single AMC7135 and maybe add a XR7/6 10uf against the current ripple

Do you think 350mA is ok for long life?

It is single mode and the beam is much brighter than a 660nm beam. I would say 3x as bright at the same output. It is good to see a round dot instead of the ugly barshaped dot.

Yeah, a microboost. I was unsure due to the low voltage drop, but then at higher currents it drops more, so i thought it would be ok. Now im glad i didn't quite make it.

I was going to try a moh linear that i have, but it's set a little high and wouldnt fit inside the module.

Using just one batt isn't a big deal, but i want to use the whole module. The microboost was all i had on hand that would fit. Is there a linear small enough to fit inside the module?

Thanks for putting the time into this and sharing DTR! .5a 3.6v 233mw very nice. A burly diode indeed :D

Biggest rule about boost drivers. Aside from 1 cell (as I have learned the hard way). Don't boost reds.

So will a linear driver work for this? And if so do we use one Li-Ion?

With a linear, 2x Li-ion will do the trick. Mine is running off of 2x 16340 with a mohgasm linear at 200mA. A single 18650 will work but I only got about 65-70mW.

Ah okay, that sounds about right. I had similar results with my 650.

Made an edit to 2x li-ion. Sorry for any confusion. Technically 1 will work, but your best bet would be 2.

found the price, and I think DTR is trying to put me in the poor farm with the RBG combo!!!

Now im glad i killed the driver. Better that than the diode. Thanks guys for the info.

I've got both a linear and an X-drive on the way. The only driver i have currently is a moh linear set to 378mA. It was meant for another 650 build, but got tempted to use with this.

However i will wait, as i don't want to push it quite that hard.
