OEM Laser Systems PL-III review! *UPDATE*

Alright - review time!
I received the unit in the mail this morning... Glenn shipped it out Friday afternoon - USPS Priority fails to disappoint once again!
Build Quality - EXCELLENT! It was constructed very well... the only gripe I have is that there was some residue in the threads leftover from the machining process... but that came off in just a few seconds with a rag. The button is just a tad lopsided also, but it doesn't affect anything. 9/10
Performance - BEYOND excellent! This thing is incredible. It's rated at 100mWs. The graph from OEM shows a 134mW average, and a 174.5mW peak... Glenn measured it on a Kenometer at 156mW average, 208mW peak... I did a quick 1-minute test, and it showed 167mW average, 171mW peak. It runs in PERFECT TEM00 for as long as you keep it on. Loveliest circle I've seen in a while. Divergence is 1.08mRad. 10/10
Aesthetics - WTC? ;D I swear, this thing looks like a baton. the kind of thing you do relays with... In other words, not very smexy. It certainly is functional, though. I like the black anodized finish. It's 9.2" long, and 1.5" at the widest point. (to hell with those metric units. I like inches.
) 7/10
Overall, 9/10. Don't even hesitate to get one. Best laser I've ever had, hands down.

Your unit is very much over spec, far more then mine. Good buy. 
About the machine residue in the thread: that's what probably damaged the thread on my laser. Looking back I was probably better off cleaning that thread with a rag as well. Small tip: lube the threads a bit so you decrease the chance of the threads "eating" each other. (sorry, don't know how to translate that properly)
I actually like the baton style. Gives you the feeling you're holding something rugged and durable when compared to a small pointer. The button on my laser is lopsided as well btw, but just like in your case it's not causing any problems.

I am still on the 1st set of batteries in mine. I can't believe how frugal this laser is with batteries! I will be sure to take great care the next time the cap comes off.

I didn't clean it thoroughly enough... and guess what? one of the threads on the cap is damaged. ugh. Well, at least it's light enough on the batteries that I won't have to open it all that much.

Ouch. Too bad yours got a bit damaged as well. The good news: it can be repaired with the proper gear.

Thanks for the review Chad! Sorry to hear of the thread damage, should be able to be cleaned up though. The bad news is, I only got the great discount on the first 2 of these, if I want more the cost is $425 for >100 mW and $800 for >200 mW before shipping! (Although these are still very good prices for new full warranty, professional quality CNI lasers!) BTW, if the threads are too much bother you can do a warranty return, or I'll fix them for you! -Glenn
