Hey guys,

I'm much more used to hanging around the "other" forums such as CPF, EDCF, BFC, etc. and have thousands of posts here, but after some research I found this terrific forum. I've tried to read and understand some tutorials and reviews and such, but am still green behind the ears.

EDIT: I just found that the lasers that I was looking at are completely underspec, so NVM.

My limit is $50 and I'm trying to find something that I can burn with (yes I will be wearing eye protection and all of that). Is this even possible with this price limit?

Thanks everyone.

If you already have the eye protection, and u can pay 50$ for the laser, then buy a 50mw green (adjustable) from O-like or Rayfoss (As i saw, rayfoss had several problems on the last week, so it's your choice where u should buy from), or 200mW red (adjustable)... OR you could make a ~100mW greenie, if u already have a true pen style laser, by using THIS GUIDE... By the way, don't laugh from eye protection, it's not a silly thing. Yes, you may think "bah, i won't light it dirrectly into my eye", but still, it is NEEDED to wear good laser protection glasses, or you may end up with blind spots in your eyes or even worse.

What constitutes "good" eye protection? I have the tools needed to take apart a pen-type... I might do that...

Thanks,

Decent price and good protection...I heard the Dragonlasers.com goggles are good.

I'm not sure which safety glasses you would exactly need. I think first you should select the laser u want to buy/build, and then ask for help for getting the glasses...By the way, if constructing the ~100mW greenie - DX lasers are chinese quality, so don't scream if u will get the module dead after a little bump or something. Made in China was, is and will be made in China :))) I think o-like has good and cheap ones and dragon lasers have VERY GOOD protective goggles, but still, ask for professionals :)
