I've updated the OP with international shipping costs, so that people can identify the shipping method they want to use and cost. This will save me from having to explain that insured and tracked shipping to the rest of the world is kind of expensive ;) You can calculate your own shipping costs at the link provided.

Great now I am jealous. That 472 is pretty high wavelength wise. These should go really quickly!

Gah... I'm broke. Wanna trade for my module? I estimate ~468nm at 2.4A :p

Lol, no, but if you had a 438nm diode, I'd be interested! (though not in a 1 to 1 swap).

I'm generally up for trades, but I'm not really looking for much right now to be honest. What I am casually seeking, in case anyone else has the same thought, is:

  • - A really low binned direct green. The "World's First" direct green spectro'd at 505 nm, but I'm affraid that guy kicked the can. Would love to replace it. If anyone has some really really old direct green diodes, that's what I'd be interested in.
  • - A really low binned "445" diode, in the 435nm to 440nm range.
  • - An Oclaro HL63133DG
  • - An Oclaro HL63163DG
  • - A 3W+, 635/660 (red), C-Mount
  • - A 6W+, 808/940 (or other IR), C-Mount, FAC'd

Talk to Lazerer about the green diodes. I was supposed to be buying a very low green diode from him. Don't remember if it was a 505nm rated diode or a 510nm rated diode. But. He has seemingly disappeared again.

Not to highjack the thread, but was the one you spectroe'd at 466nm@2.4A a low WL then? Or are these the highest ones you found?

I'm not sure. These came from a different source, and were purchased at a different time. So I wouldn't want to claim that these are higher than normal, or that the other one was lower than normal, based on such a small dataset where some other variables are at play.

What I will say is this -
These diodes feel eerily like they've already been binned by someone up the chain. I have NEVER seen 5 diodes that were purchased together, spectro within basically 1nm of each other. That's absolutely abnormal in my experience, and I have trouble believing that could happen by chance. I was disappointed that there weren't any really-freak high wavelengths in the group, even though they all tested a bit higher than I had expected.

EDIT: To more directly address your question "are these the highest ones you found" - yes, other than that I am keeping a 5th diode (I bought 5), which was another 472 nm, for myself. I think it was a fraction of a nm higher than the 472nm diodes listed here.

I'd buy one of yours if I hadn't already ordered one from DTR :p
Thanks for the heads up! (can't give you rep)

I really want that 472 ... My diode from DTR just came in, with G lens and driver.

Wanna trade? Ha.

Actually kinda serious, I've wanted something like this for a couple years now, I just don't make the kinda of money for two of these diodes. Or to spend $400 in 4 days on lasers..

What kind of diode do you have from DTR?

If it's just another NDB7675, then enjoy it, love it. You don't need one of these, you've got one.

To be really clear and upfront about this point - I have no reason to believe these are special diodes. In my mind, these are cool because their wavelength isn't a question mark, that's the value in these 4.

Rhd's right on that one. You won't notice the difference unless you're trying to. I'm just in for another one at a wavelength I can quantify. Just gotta scrounge up cash.

So is ~470 the average for these? Or just the average at that current? Are these the only 4 you tested?

If this is standard, then I am more than excited to test mine out :)

You guys have got to stop trying to draw conclusions based on small isolated tests.

All I can tell you is the wavelength of these 5 diodes, and the 1 that I tested a few weeks earlier. These were 471/472 at 2.4A, and the previous diode was 466nm at 2.4A. Beyond that, I have no special knowledge or inside track on these diodes. I'm in the same boat as everyone else, I just happened to purchase 5 instead of 1, but otherwise, I'm guessing just like everyone else.

On that note, I'm going to put a hold on one at a forum member's request while he saves some funds, but I'm going to list the rest on ebay.

I wasn't making assumptions, that's why I was asking for clarification ;)

I'll meter mine for wavelength once it's built. Fingers crossed..
