G'day,

For my new found love of Nixie tubes, i ordered a kit to build a thermometer.

The kit contained a bare PCB board and all the components including the case. It was a great kit to sodler up, no SMD parts just your 1/4W resistors and a few caps, IC's and an inductor.

The unit has 2 temperature sensor inputs on the back of the unit for inside/outside temperature, it will cycle through them at intervals of you choice, or you can just use 1 sensor and have it stay on tht all the time.

it has the cathode poisoning prevention, which cycles both tubes through all of its digits every 5 minutes too.

Feels great to get this badboy working knowing that you built it from scratch :D

It uses 2x IN-16 tubes and has a really nice black perspex case!

Bought the tubes here: Nocrotec Shop - IN-16 Nixie tube set for Temp'n'Glow Thermometer

Bought the PCB, case and components here: Nixiekitworld.com - Onlineshop - Nixie Thermometer Set

A little video of it with hot water and pea's from the freezer on the sensor :D.

Thanks for looking,

Fiddy.

The first thing I'd do is disconnect the blue LED's at the base of the tubes, they are too bright and detract from the antique look of the tubes.

These are great little kits.

Me too. I think they look way cooler without the blue LEDs added.

I'm going to make a nixie clock one of these days.

I like the blue LED's, they arnt as strong as what the camera makes them out to be, either way their is a lil jumper on the side of the PCB that enable or disables the LED's :D

Those are awesome. It would be sweet to have a clock with four of the tubes telling me the time.:)

Hehe thanks!

Are you going to make a nixie tube LPM? cause that would be super!

I had started putting the electronics together about 2 months ago
and haven't been able to find any spare time to get back to it. It's
been over a month that I took my last Bike ride.

You can be sure it will be posted on the Forum once it is done..;)

How big is the thermometer head? It seems to have a large thermal mass as the temp increases and decreases so slowly...

you mean the sensor? its tiny, its like 4mm2 its heatshrinked at the end of the temperature cable.
