Hi everyone,

I joined up here on LPF after the following happened over a two-month period:

1. Friend demos me his laser
2. Tells me about his other friend who has one that can burn
3. I get curious
4. Get myself one of those generic <5mW greenies off Amazon.
5. Amused, but the curiosity got worse
6. Google search
7. Find WL
8. Arctic
9. Add to cart
10. Contemplate
11. Discover LPF
12. Cancel WL order and block it from my browser.

:thanks:

A bit of background: My current hobby is portable hi-fi audio (headphones) and I have some electrical experience building a couple of amplifiers and doing custom cables. I figured that with some research and guidance here I could probably start doing my own laser builds in a couple of months time.

That said, I recently watched Tech_Junkie's welcome video and thankfully, besides the rofl I didn't get lost especially when the assembling part came along.

Because blue is my favorite color, an impulsive part of me wants to get a ready made laser (and goggles) from one of the guys here (DBF's and his Bushwhacker to be exact ) or try and build one myself from scratch. I sold one of my headphones and have about $260 so far to inject into this new hobby.

There ya go guys, please feel free to ask me anything while I read up on the other threads.

Cheers!

Tom

EDIT: I don't have an LPM but since I got my 532nm off Amazon and just read a thread here stating that they're definitely over 5mW, I also think it's over 50mW. :D

Saik build with a h1600 260 well spent

That the one rhd's selling?:) I think I'd like to have the G lens as well, which makes it $300... or was there a price drop I didn't see?

Cheers

EDIT: I see you were referring to a DIY build, sorry about that

So you have essentially mastered the 12 steps to becoming an addict, now all
somebody has to do is work on the 12 steps to break it :undecided:

I would like to build one but I must admit, the urge to get one ready made is also very strong.

I don't have laser safety goggles/glasses at the moment and I'm actually looking for a solid one for blue since I'm gravitating towards that color.

Thanks Jerry, I just burned through those 39 reasons after waking up from a dream state where I almost bought an Arctic. Now WL is just a distant memory.

I plan to get LSGs ahead of the laser, if not together with.

Ah nuts thanks lman but I just placed an order for a couple of these (thanks tsteele93).

Don't ask but I'm limited to stuff that's on Amazon.com. I'm looking around locally for Casio Slim projectors (I found a local dealer) in case anyone's interested.

Cheers!

Hmmm let's see if I can cancel my order then. But what can you say about the blocking capabilities in tsteele93's review?

The Key is in the Disclaimer...

and the fact that tests were not done at any accredited Laser
Safety Goggles/Glasses facility...

It was a rough test done by a hobbyist... I wouldn't trust
my eyes to uncertified Laser Safety Goggles/Glasses...

Thanks a lot Jerry

An pair of Eagle Pair(s) is on the way to me.

Better to have more glasses than lasers at this point in my journey. :thanks:
