Great site. I am a newbie and wanted to know if anyone is familiar with the PLC CO2 TMR heart laser. I can not get it to fire during the cal. phase. Everthing else seems to be okay at this point, I cannot go any further with the cal test passed.

Also what can this laser be used for? I was hoping for engraving or other art work. The spec are 8 - 80 joules with pulse with of 10 - 99 mS, delayu of 1- 999 mS. It is a slab laser, RF excited. 125 mm focal length.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Todd

Welcome Todd.

I'm no C02 expert, we do have a couple here, so it may take a day or so to get your answers.

Daguin and HemlockMike come to mind right away.

I take it you got a good deal on a used C02 laser??

Meanwhile, here is some good reading materials, it will help keep you busy while you wait for the answers.

Thanks photonaholic I will give Sam's site a look. Great amount of info available, I'm sure that it will take some time to digest. Thanks. I hope to get the laser home next week and get the covers off and get to troubleshooting. I will keep you all informed.

Read all the info you have on that laser. Many have so many interlocks required by the FDA that it can be hard to get it running. Sometimes a burned out warning light is enough to disable the system.
Pictures? Did you do a google search on it? You may find a manual for it.
I have called the manufacturers on some things and they emailed me the entire manual.

Once I get it home I will be able to spend more time with it. I did locate the manufactuer and their tech support line, I will give them a call if it requires a little more troubleshooting. The hospital that I got the laser from purchased a manual from the manufactuer but we sold the manual to a third party service company for contract related purposes. I will see if I can social engineer a manual from the manufactuer

I will post some pictures of the laser hopefully this week.

As promised I have uploaded some photos of the laser that I brought home today. I worked with it for a couple hours tonight trying to get it to fire. No Luck... I plan on contacting the manufactuer maybe tomorrow. I will keep everyone posted.

Feel free to comment.
