Are you referring to the price or the power loss?

10% loss isn't bad at all...

With an acrylic non-coated lens we are losing like 40% of raw output power...

Those lenses you linked to have a 10% loss, at best. Higher at different wavelengths.

Here is the chart for the lenses you linked to at edmund

From what Igor told me its more like a 25% loss with an acrylic non-coated lens, give or take. So in reality its only about a 15% increase over plastic. For that money I'd stick with the 405-G-1 lens which will give you 28% increase over plastic.

Que Jayrob... ;D

i'd be interested to see raw diode output vs output after jayrobs lens. I'd be willing to bet that you'll see around 10% loss. Jayrobs lens is great, I just think that the acrylics are a lot more lossy than we think, based on my own testing.

It would not surprise me to find even less than 10% loss. The lens data sheet claims 95% transmission.

The thing is, it's hard to get an accurate 'raw' reading. Because the light from the raw diode spreads out so fast...

.
BR Lens Testers;

Compare the Specs vs. Cost

The o-like lens has a "stated" power loss of 20% - $31 ppd
O'Like
405nm laser glass coated focus lens ( M9 screw thread )
20% power loss through it .

The Hi-Power lens has a tested power loss of 3.5% - $54 ppd.

I thought it was a 10-15% loss? You guys are confusing me :-?

Anyone buy one of these yet?
