Hi All, I'm John from Boston, Ma and just recently got into working with lasers...very cool stuff.
I recently purchased a 1W 445nm Blue Ray laser diode and built myself a crude laser burning circuit. I used a LM317 voltage regulator as the main component of the drive circuit and a 100ohm POT to get Max Amps diode could handle.
Have a cool video of it burning stuff but I need to convert the file so it can be viewed on Windows Media player...will post once converted.
I still have a lot to learn about lasers and I'm trying to absorb as much info as I can from various websites...I apologize in advance for anything stupid I might say or ask...but I'm sure ur used to that stuff from Noobs like me:)
At this point I want to create more laser power...but I'm limited by the 1W diode I'm using. So I'm thinking about building my own resonator...just not quite sure how to do it yet
SO, can I assume that I can generate more laser power/light beam intensity by feeding a particular resonator with more laser diodes? Would the crystal amplifier's output increase with these added pumps or would each extra diode require its own amplifier in order to increase the overall beam intensity. We'll disregard the size of the resonator chamber and the optic lenses needed for now.
I will continue to research but if anyone has built their own laser heads they might have tried this? I realize there are higher powered laser diodes out there that can be bought off the shelf...but this is more for experimentation.
