Hey everyone new member here. Read the rules and Stickies. Been reading this forum since last summer though.

Fell in love with lasers back in 1999/2000 when cheap button-cell keychain reds were a fad. In 2014 the interest returned. Got my first cheap 532, found this forum, learned the basics, now have a collection going.

Lasers always mystified me. Thought lasers were on a different level of cool than anything else. Being able to throw pure straight light long distance.

Pleased to meet you all.

Welcome man. I know how you feel. I am very excited for my new 3.5W 445 kit to arrive so I can become a child again. I plan to take some "across the frozen sea" pics to so I am hoping they turn out ok. For love of the beam.

from OP

.." I was outside for about 30 minutes trolling around the sky, neighbor's houses, it was one of the coolest moments of my life (especially being younger) being able to shoot a laser beam down my block."

may want to curtail that stuff- one guy said.." shooting that laser towards the aircraft was the dumbest thing of my life.' or something like that- my point is- ATM is best to keep all that inside someplace OR out in the country AWAY from any airports and of course never aim at anything flying driving or living- unless you want a federal offence on your record big fine and long jail time - click the link in my sig and read up on what can happen...

+6 rep bump as a welcome

Good point, you're right. It was a foggy dark morning with a few mWs of 650 but the principle is still the same. Didn't mean to glorify being a bit irresponsible.

Since gotten into lasers seriously I've watched tons of videos online, read a good part of the whole laserpointersafety.com website. I know this is no joke. Even with my lasers now, if I do some "sky shots" for a quick photo it's still nerve-racking. I've gotten all I need and rarely do it at all anymore. I don't live in a wide open area so that kind of sucks. But I can safely say, my matte walls always fall victim to my lasers ;)

Thanks for the response :)

Hey everyone, brand new member here. I'm Matt. Just made my account & finished reading all the rules and Stickies. I've been reading this forum since last summer though.

Fell in love with lasers back in middle school 1998-2000 when the cheap keychain 650s were a fad. Got out of it, then last year I returned. Got my first cheap 532, got a few more, found this forum, learned the basics, now I have a small collection going.

Lasers always mystified and attracted me. Back in the day I took my keychain pointer everywhere. Thought lasers were the coolest thing ever. I always wanted to see the beam and couldn't understand why I couldn't. I used to open my kitchen freezer a crack and let the escaping water vapor show the beam. I remember one specific summer morning it was SUPER foggy (could barely see across my driveway)...got my laser out and finally the dream came true. I was outside for about 30 minutes trolling around the sky, neighbor's houses, it was one of the coolest moments of my life (especially being younger) being able to shoot a laser beam down my block.

Fast forward to now, I can take out my Sci Fi 1.5W 445 and "see the beam" anytime

Live in NY, USA and work in the I.T. field. Pleased to meet you all.
I like your post, i was the same way when i was younger and bought my first keychain laser pointer...i can so relate haha. Thanks for the read...brought back some good memories
