I am using a 12mm heatsink with a lens for my loc 817 diode !its hard focusing with that thing , especially if you want to focus on something really accurately , and under circumstances when the upper part contain the lens is moving in a strange way when turning it inside and out , so I was thinking what if I make an electrical way to focus ? won't it be more effective? using a normal motor (from any remote control car toys or something) ,
what are your opinions ?
I am newbie in thees stuff , also in english
:D

You could try. It wouldn't be terribly hard connecting a servo up to your lens. You'd need a decent feedback mechanism at a long distance to do accurate infinity focusing. Usually people don't bother because it isn't too hard to focus manually, and the focus isn't very fine grained as-is.

Edit: aw man, I just replied to a banned.
