Whats up, Guys

This new maglite is great! It has some really cool features it has 5 different setting to be exact. I am working on replacing the led with a ld. I destroyed one already trying to remove the led it's very difficult to remove. but installing a ld will really increase the range of the sos mode and signal mode an the strobe will be awesome too...Maybe a green laser module that will be the most visible. Let me know what you guys think of the idea.

Well Sarge you picked a nice, but I'm afraid a pricey flashlight to mod...

In any case, you should be able to replace the 3xAAA holder with 1x CR123 or even CR2 to have enough space for laser module and even a custom heatsink if needed,
However I do not know where 5mode circuitry is located, if it's on LED driver circuit, you will have to think of some way to (re)use it since IIRC those circuits regulate the voltage given to the LED so that may pose a problem for laser drivers.

Keep us updated, Sarge!

The price is not a problem, infact I am sending one to Jayrob for some testing and letting him keep it . As for the heatsink there is plenty of room for one. I don't plan on using a laser doide driver. I've built lasers before w/o diode drivers just using the stock led driver with great success i'll keep you guys posted!

In that case you should at least add a bit of capacitance on the output of the stock LED driver because those have quite an unstable output from what I've seen so far, since LEDs are far more resistant to unstable currents and spikes so nothing is done to prevent them.
Our precious LDs on the other hand.... you know :D

What do you plan to put into it?
