Hey All ,

When I was playing with my "DX 200mW Red" for a long time , I forgot to turn it off to coll down , and it started to heat up until it gave a little weak red light , and BOOM !!!!!! it burned !!! :(

On the other side , I was trying to build a DIY Red Burner , i had all parts exept the Housing and lens :(.
I decided to order from Stonetek an Aixis Housing .

A few minuts ago , I opened mu 200mW red apart , and i removed the cicuit , and i found a brass round thing , i screwed it , and removed the burned diode , and i got a heatsink , with a focusing ring !!!

Here are some pictures :

Free ? looks like a $53:00 heatsink to me and not even in copper :( sorry to hear you burnt up your 200 will need to keep my duty cycle short on mine then considering I already cranked the pot up to max.

I fixed the title , read it again .
That was my fault , i forgot the duty cycle , and i already maxed the pot

Wish me luck with my "DIY Red MXDL Burner" project :D

Thanks,
Awf

Why don't you just swap the dead diode with a good one? :-/ Use the DX200 housing and driver and everything.Might even get way more power with a good ol' open can. ::)

How long did you leave yours on? I've left mine on for quite a long time with no problems.

If you use the 317 driver, you will need to get two 3.6V CR2s, which are not available on KD or DX, but can be bought from other sources. (AW on CPF or e-bay, but lower quality)

You could use rckstr's driver, which would remain in regulation a little longer, but would still not be optimal with two primary CR2s. The green rechargable 3V CR2s would work for a while tho.

The original driver might actualy provide some regulation, from what Styro has measured. Haven't gotten this laser yet tho, so i can't confirm. It may be as easy as swapping a resistor and adjusting the pot. Should be here this week, so i'll know soon.

The rechargable CR2s end up having 3.6V at full charge. Not sure how long it lasts like that though.
