this is violet 1w set at 1A, it can not be up to 1.5A, diode 5.6mm

Thanks for watching
compare with 1A 450nm PLTB450 burn match with acrylic len,

Re: My violet 405nm 1000mA , diode JDSU405

violet has to be my favorite wavelength. ive always wanted to see what a class 4 violet laser would look like, but the camera doesnt really show violet, only blue :/ but hey, nice laser there :) maybe when i get more experienced i will make some builds of my own

Whaaaat? A 405nm more powerful than the BDR? When did you get it? Is it single mode or multimode?

Doesn't sound like a very efficient diode though, also never heard of it before. For our well known bdr209 it only takes ~0.65A to get to 1W output whereas this diode takes a whole amp. What would really matter is what the output is at 1.5A which is what you stated is the max suggested current for this unheard of diode.

dear, it is really so so strong than BDR209
i received about 7 days ago! ^^ and it is mutilmode, beam size of it is same size m140, and it only have two pins

Fascinating! Thanks for sharing. Where did you buy it from?

i agree with your idea! my plan is sell them but i can't shipout vietnam, because i have send a XSD 4.5A for DTR from March but now is 9th , dtr haven't received it! i'm afraid when i send it to you, you won't be received it
I have a lot of laser, but i only can show it on forum for you watch! ^^
im so sorry!

Woa!! A new more powerful 405?! Gotta have one ASAP! Well depending on the price of course.. don't like MM but I think that's an obvious with higher powers

Edit: did you LPM @ 1A? Also the diode in the picture looks to be a 9mm? could be wrong

yes,i don't have a LPM but i have picture! ^^ and i set my violet at 1250mA, and i guess it can up to 1.5A

Re: My violet 405nm 1000mA , diode JDSU405

Well, there has been a 1W 405nm multi-mode diode that a few people got a few years ago. Although that wasn't a continuous source.
Assuming this can be pushed a little more than 1W this would be a good development.

^^^the datasheet you posted says it is only rated for 350mW continuous. If your actually driving it at 1.25A than that is some SERIOUS pushing for that diode. Although it is possible it is more robust than the normal single mode diodes because it is multimode (if it is multimode).
300%+ is quite a lot or overdriving for a diode.

EDIT: Here is the Facebook announcement (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1749318511995660&id=100007525848844). Same info as already posted thought.

Little curious myself about spec sheet on that. I am trying to find a 209 spec to see what it's pulse rating is. Pulse output doesn't mean much for us.

If your throwing 1.25A and that things surviving it must be robust as hell, especially since it looks like your using a 501b or similar so I can't see the heatsink being that big of a help as it's not that big.

yes, exactly it is 501b! at 1.25A , it realy is as hell, so so strong!

i think no matter1 because before we always do that!
Eg: NDB7875 is only 1.6A why we set up to 2.4A ???
all diodes which we usually use be like that! ^^

Re: My violet 405nm 1000mA , diode JDSU405

So, I'm confused then. Are you saying you sent DTR one of these diodes to test and it hasn't arrived yet? You must have more than one shipping method. Practically everyone hers has been awaiting a more powerful 405nm so we need to find a way to get these to the states. No teasing allowed:)
