just got this delivered from ebay today.

Now I just need to figure out how to power it. I'm building a wimshurst that I think will do the trick. But if anyone knows of another easier solution, please let me know?

Tube - tip to tip is about 7 1/2" long which is fairly large, believe it or not.
Obviously some of the glass is uranium glass for the effect.
This is one of the nicer, more elaborate ones I've seen. I've been looking for one for over a year that I liked. I'm guessing it is filled with argon, based on the color.

The pictures are from the ebay page.

thnx for sharing:beer:

cool. a way to power it is to have a HV DC pwer supply (search google: HV 555 - you should get a lot of circuits)
some info here: Geissler tubes

Those actually look really cool from the pictures in the link.
Will you be posting any pictures?

if you can bring it to SELEM, Sam surely knows much about this item..& i want to see it. bare HeNes glow some when placed close to a plasma globe--maybe this will too.
