I think this is as good a place as any to post this.
This is actually the third laser I have built but the second one was pretty ugly so I took it apart and started fresh with this host. My first build is in the welcome section (also not a beauty queen).
I got this host in a package of three flashlights at Home Depot on sale for $10. The package had two lights like this and a really cool third one with a glow in the dark wrapping. I used another module bought from daguin to complete this. I am getting better at soldering now after having to solder this module up in two hosts now. Also ended up putting a new positive wire on the driver and removed the negative wire. I also desoldered the leds from the board in the host and attached the positive lead from module to the board. That original circuit board is pressed into the back of my heatsink and that assembly is pressed into the head of the host. The heatsink I used was the third one I built for this. I wanted to get the whole assembly back into the head so only the focus ring stuck out but I could not create enough space.

Thanks
Clayton

Hmm looks horrible in pics but holding it would be pretty awesome I think.

Yeah... I would have posted your build in "Experiments, Modifications & Custom Designs" .... ;)
Unless of course your laser receives radio signals or transmits images.... ;D ;D

Good job on your build...

@Eku... BTW... we have never seen any of your builds... :-/

Nice work there buddy, it's not the most fantastic looking laser but it's certenatly unique and I imagine works very well :)

Good job, do you mind me asking, did you use the driver from the original host? If so what mw is it outputting? I am just curious

thanks, and nice work.

Thanks everyone for the comments. :)
Asherz, the host did not have a driver. It had a small circuit board with 7 leds on one side and a battery spring soldered to the other side. I just desoldered the leds and soldered the positive wire into one of the little holes that the leds came from. The driver for the laser is in the module I bought from daguin. I think he said it was a rkcstr driver and the laser is putting out 250mW.
This is much better looking in person. It is kind of heavy in the hand due to the mass of aluminum in there. It is using 2 10440 batteries and a dummy in the original 3 AAA holder from the host.
I need to figure out how the heck some of you guys are compacting your builds into such small hosts. This host is huge and I still had to have the module protrude out the end. :( I will get there in time. ;)

Oh, and thanks for the advise Jerry. I put it here because the byline says post pics and vids in this section, but I see your point. The next one will be in "Experiments, Modifications & Custom Designs". ;)
