I got this 14500 sized li-ion a while ago, it's a green wrapper and is stated as new...

I knew something was up when the wrapper appeared bumpy, like there was something stuck underneath it. So, finally today I peeled off ONE of the layers of the plastic wrapper;

That's right, wrapped twice... huh...

Took off the second wrapper and was exposed to this battery that looked like it was dumped in a pile of sh*t.

Battery won't hold a charge either.

Problem with buying batteries other than 14500 size is it's hard to find decent name brands that make them...

I can't see the pictures,
503 Service Temporarily Unavailable

***EDIT*** Now I see :)
That common practice for the Chinese batteries. They rewrap the old batteries and sell it as new.

I use the 14500 from DX and have no problems with it.

Agreed for 18650 cells stick with name brand LG, Sanyo, Panasonic.
For other size cells 14500, 10440, rcr123 cr2, I go with lighthound.com
They have been around for some time and have good reputation here at LPF and CPF.

Yeah, my ultrafires, that came for free, never come anywhere near high drain applications.

Places to go to for batteries for me are basically, LarryDFW, Lighthound, or Orbtronic. All sell name brand quality batteries...

Last thing I want is to have a laser or light blow up on me while in my hand.

Le Quack;

There are some very poor quality cells being sold today !

U.L.1642 approval is a very stringent safety test for lithium ion cells.

Actual U.L. listing approval is what I look for, with the cells I sell.

IMO it is more important than most PCB protection circuits I have seen.

Sanyo does have some #14500 cells available.
