microflex v5 and mitsubishi 638 300mw diode

Have any of you ever used this combination?

I have both the driver and diode, but based on the diagram for the microflex, I wasn't 100% how I should set this up.

It appears a diode needs to be used in conjuntion with the driver? I'm new to this, so bear with me.

NM I guess. Seems like a linear driver is more appropriate for this setup.

You can use the microflex v5 for anything, it is a buck/boost driver which means it will choose what it needs to do. In this case, it will lower the voltage for the diode (buck mode), assuming you are going to using a single li-ion cell. If the diode was, lets say, a phr or S06J, then the driver would go into boosting mode and boost the voltage to the diodes needs (once again, assuming you are using a single li-ion cell).
