Microdriver and driver on a single diode?

I picked up a load of 650nm diodes with microdrivers built in. These microdrivers don't have potentiometer built in, so I (probably) won't be able to adjust the diode output. Could I just attach a regular driver onto the microdriver? Or would I have to remove the microdriver, or use another diode altogether? Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Well you cant. Those diodes are less than 5mw. If you replace the driver, it will cause the diode to "blow"
