Just got this bad boy in.Its my first laser and wow it is bright. It says 100mw on the barrel but I don't have a LPM to measure it.Thanks swimminsurfer256.Here is a beamshot camera is set on auto with no flash.(I was holding both the laser and camera so a little shaky.I will get a steadier one later)

Oh that wall it is hitting is about 25 feet away.

Re: super overspec greenie

I hate to burst your bubble, but why do you think it's overspec? It actually doesn't take a lot of 532nm to be 'bright'.

Just going by the pic, i'd say its running between 50-75mW, but that's just a guess assuming normal exposure times, etc.

The only real way to know a lasers power, is with an LPM.

Re: super overspec greenie

Um,... Congratulations on your first laser. But, please change the title of the thread.
If you have no means to measure the actual output of your laser, you don't know if it is overspec or not. Your claim of "super overspec" is questionable.
Here are a few tests to tell if it is at least >50mW;
Can you light matches with it?
Can you pop balloons with the laserbeam?
What happens if you point the laser at black plastic or leather?
Does it warm your skin when pointed at your hand?
Does the laser itself get warm after a minute or so of "on" time?
How bright is the dot inside/outside (compared to a light bulb or the Sun)?

Re: super overspec greenie

I think a better title would be "Review of Swimminsurfer's Super OverSpec Green Pen".

He's getting the "Super OverSpec" part from the sales thread in the b/s/t:whistle:

IIRC beam diameter on these is rather large, so burning/popping balloons isn't possible.

@Boneman840 - If you are going to try burning and/or popping, you need goggles. Especially since balloons can be very reflective.

Re: super overspec greenie

Sorry but super overspec was what the laser I bought was called.I got it from the FS post by swim.Didn't intend for it to sound like it for a fact was overspec. That is just what Swim called them. Sorry for the confusion.

I will edit the title thanks

So, do have any interest in estimating the power to see if it is even close to "spec"?

Yes I do! An LPM is on my Christmas list this year.So sometime by new year I should be able to start testing any new lasers I get
