Maybe something between a 7875 and 7A75 but what's the divergence and how hard can we drive it, osrams don't seem to have the headroom that N's do but if 5w and 7875 divergence then it would be fun with a G2/G3 and 3.3XBE will test one when available.

The wavelength of this diode seems to be temperature related more than anything else. It looks like at temperatures we normally run diodes at that this one will be closer to 445nm than 460nm. I just don't see it getting anywhere close to 460nm unless you allow it to get close to 85* C. That is pretty hot, so I don't think this is going to be a great new diode for us. But, I could be wrong. I would have to test at least one to know for sure.

Hey GSS here's that 2 beam mitsu, also I don't know anything about that new osram but I wouldn't trust spec sheets when they don't have any diodes for sale as there seems to be a 450c and 450d but that's just what I am finding here and there, has anyone had 1 in hand yet ?

Thanx Red...
So the rectangular emitter is also placed small size facing front from more of the norm the other way that iv'e seen.
Wouldn't mind seeing one decanned.

GSS you asked something interesting the other day about how the lens interacts with these dual beams and that has me thinking.

The space between the active regions is basically missing dopant in the center of a very wide region, it's like a very wide beam with the center chopped out so a c-lens pair would straighten these 2 beams out a lot, you would still have a small gap between but it would reduce the spread just as if they were the edges of a very wide beam.

Is that triple beam diode still around ? I suspect these will not be produced for long as a wider emitting region diode would work better and will likely replace it. These ridiculous double/triple beam diodes could become collectable LOL

I was guess I was mistaken about the emitter position..
You seem to be on to something good, maby there's a LED'd one someone has and can decan and show a pic.

Ok the top pic is what we have in a single beam diode and the 2nd pic is the 2 beam mitsu, the space between the 2 active regions is just missing dopant IINM so what we see when we look at 2 spreading beams is really one very wide beam with the center missing, it's the curvature of our lens and the divergence that makes the 2 beams spread so typical beam shaping should bring the 2 beams into line such as using a c-lens pair or FAC lens.

If there were 2 chips inside the diode then we could see them aligned to match a lens and a task, but as this is 2 emitting regions in the same chip it's basically a wide beam missing it's center.

So just as a C-lens pair will reduce the divergence after the primary collimating lens the same pair would reduce the spread of the 2 beams as they are the outer portions of basically a very wide beam missing it's center, this could be a good place for a FAC lens just in front of the diode can window before the primary collimating lens to produce 2 close to parallel beams.

----------------------

On to that osram PLPT9 450C

I wonder if that osram 3.5 is basically a NDB7A75 possibly with slightly better divergence ?

I have some 7A75's in a big heat sinks @ 4.0a with a G3 and 3.3x BE and they are not bad, if the divergence was like a 7875 but could do 5w like 7a75 that would be nice, but I somehow don't expect divergence to be that good, fingers crossed....but it's _E as in experimental so we may not see much of it, still never saw that 20 emitter 25 x 32 mm micro block

Hey I have a diode in my gatling chinese guy that isn't listed here. (or I'm dumb) On the can there is a "sb479bj91" which looks like a sharp diode, and i see some sharp diodes have 2 part #s ("sb###" and "gh###"). I do believe mine is a multi mode... Would correlate to the one 450nm sharp diode (1.65w) listed as a "gh-" part #, however that one is listed as single mode!
Google cant find anything when i search "sb479bj91". Anyone have an idea what diode this is?

That number printed around the diode's window is not a Sharp part number. It is an iteration number and won't help you in any search. I did list some iteration numbers for some of Sharp's diodes, but not that one.

where are 532 nm diodes ? and how people can sell 1.2 w or 1.4 w green lasers ?

and where are other inframed diodes ? like 1w etc

532nm is DPSS not diode. 532nm direct diodes only exist currently in research. All commercial availability has ceased. And they wouldn’t exist at those power levels. The high power greens commonly seen here are 1W+ 520nm diodes. With the exception of very expensive high power DPSS handhelds.

Curt which is not available 532 diodes or 532 dpss? Diodes I think you mean. My new holy grail green is 543nm at powers worth having and that are modulatable. I bet that green would be assume in a projector.

660/647, 543, 577, 465, 445. Now that would be cool.

Diodes, well at least not commercial ones.
