Not spectacular or anything, but I felt like sharing it anyway.
I took my short open can diode out of its previous host (harvested bullet laser) and put it in a DX focusable laser module (Aixiz look-a-like). I finally seem to be able to focus at longer distances. At the distance shown in the video, 11ft, I could light a match at CW power (300mA), although it takes 10 seconds or so to ignite. In the video, the diode is powered with 100mA at first, when you see the faint dot at the match head, then I turn it up to 350mA.
