Shot these two pictures just now around dusk. Antenna is 1/2 mile away. Shots were taken with my Nikon D90 on a 5 second shutter so the beam is a little bit brighter than seeing it with the naked eye but not by much. Nothing was manipulated in Photoshop other than resizing. Also included is a shot of how I kept the beam steady.:D

omg it seam like a 500mW one in the dark

Yeah the 5 second shutter really makes the beam solid green. In real life, it looks more like millions of little particles moving through the beam. I'll take a different type of long exposure tonight that's more true to real life. I'll take another 5 second shutter but this time, I won't turn the laser on till the final second. That way, it'll only expose the beam for one second.

How do you rate the beam of this laser from 1-10? Clearly it outshines comperable lasers, but how's the divergence?

Personally I can only compare from a couple 5mW that I have owned but on a wow factor alone, it's a 6 on a 1-10 scale. My Opto 100mW just arrived and although I'm at work and can only play with the thing in the building, I already burned a hole in the Priority Box it came in. The Led Shoppe 50mW I got last week doesn't. Shipping that one to my dad and will probably get a 200mW red from o-like. I said I didn't care about burning but now that I gota taste of it, I WANT MORE!!!

I just got the "Oldstyle" 200mW (Aka Dilda V1) from O-like and I highly recommend it to you. It burns great. The instant it is focused on an item smoke immediately startes rising from it.

The only problem I have with it is the focusing head is quite loose, and is easily unfocused from and bump. The good news is it is very easily fixed by wrapping a bit of teflon atpe around the threads.

I'd recommend it over the "Newstyle" pointer. First off- the oldstyle looks WAY cooler. On a more serious note, I've heard the head of the "Newstlye" has the exact opposite problem. It's VERY hard to turn (therefore, hard to focus). People have hurt their hands trying to turn the head. Eventually, it smooths out, but I'd be more annoyed with a head that's impossible to turn than with one that is a bit loose. Plus, as I said, the loose head is fixable, whereas the tight head stays tight.

Hope that helps ya! Let us know what you end up choosing. :)

PS. I'd be more than glad to take that 50mW off your hands. I'm sure your dad doesn't want it too much. :D

Sure. THIS is the "Oldstyle."

It's not in the title, but it's the previous version of the one listed as "Newstyle." Both of these lasers are referred to as the "Dilda" V1 and V2. There are many reviews in these forums for both versions of the laser. Here is the one that I found most helpful. http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/dilda-v1-dilda-v2-review-37911.html

If you want to see more reviews of them, use the word "Dilda" in your search. It should help a lot. Also, and I'm about to go report this to an admin, when you search for a review, you need to use the spelling "reveiw". I have no idea why it is necessary to mispell the word in a search, but it is.

If you have any more questions about the Dilda V1 feel free to ask me here, or in a PM. :)
