Folks - watch this space for a review by the end of this week on Laserglow's Orion 635nm portable red laser - it is a BEAST for certain !

Delete this when it gets in the way of your review, but I thought laserglow's orion was 660nm?
200mw of 635nm would be amazing!

The normal Orion-200 lasers are 660nm, but SenKat is reviewing a special edition 635nm Orion which is not available for purchase on our website. If you are interested, call or email me directly and I can take an order from you. There is a VERY limited supply of these lasers (only 5 pcs at the time of this posting) and we're still not sure if we're going to make them a regular item. It will all depend on how much interest we see, but for now this is a LIMITED edition.

omg greg stop teasing
i have been waiting forever to see pics of the orion 635nm
200mW of 635nm wowwwwwww

Is it a poopy multi mode diode? I'd like to see a 200mW+ red laser with beam specs as good as a pointer. At least it's a nice color.

... you've got to be joking!

200mW 635nm portable? :o :o :o

Hook me up yo!

Yes. Unfortunately single-mode diodes just don't come very high power.

IIRC last time Laserglow mentioned this unit it was $1200. If you can ditch the portability though, modules are significantly cheaper. 500mW 635nm for <$1200.

Are all red modular (lab) lasers over 200mW made with multi-mode diodes?
Isn't polarization messed up with them, or they found way to take care of it.
Is DPSS reds being made because of need for more quality beam at higher powers?

.. and ..

where is that review !!!
jk ;)
- hope you are feeling better SenKat !!!

If you want a high-quality beam you need to look into a 671nm DPSS red. The 635/660nm are almost always multimode diodes with square beam profiles.

there are some new singlemode 635 diodes coming out now that are <2 mrad at ~200mw. Hope you got DEEP pockets...

Will you do a wavelength measurement to verify that it is 635, not 643? Or maybe Justin can chime in as to what diode is in it.
Best regards

I was gonna lambast Greg a bit over the still missing rpl review, and why there was nothing here yet, but I guess I'm also guilty as I've not really ever reviewed the herc 400 I got a while back. I just had time to start playing with it in the lab and not just as a toy this week. I'm also still jacking with the dissected rpl 260 I kept promising to post. I'm going to work on the both over the next few days since I'm being drug along by the GF to her panrets house and all they do is play pinochle and eat.

Looking forward to read about it Aseras. Glad you didn't completely give up on those ;)
I hope to catch up on few laser plans myself during next few days off.

..and another bump ttt for this thread ::)

Happy holidays all!
