I received a LaserDock for review purposes...

Most of you know that I'm a straight shooter and I tell it like I see it.

That said, I'm no projector guy, so my knowledge is limited.

But I can tell you that I'm very impressed with this thing. It's super cool and well built...

I took a few pics...

The case is nice and solid. Moisture proof sealed lid.

The unit is an aluminum housing. The entire bottom is a thick heatsink.

Stainless steel screws.

I took the lid off just to have a peek inside – very clean as you can see…

Comes with:

5’ power cord.
15’ USB cord.
Micro-USB adapter.
Safety interlock and key switch.

Safety sheet and just a web link for the instructions.

The web link is all you need because it is super user friendly…

This video taken from another user is the real deal.

In fact it looks even better in person...

Technical specs from WL web site:

Minimum power: 800mW
Beam specs: <1.0mRad
Green: 520nm 100mW
Blue: 450nm <700mW
Red: 637nm 150mW
Scanner: Pt-20k, 30kpps @ 8 degrees
Modulation: Analog 10kHz
Voltage: 100-240V
Weight: 2.45kg

They currently have it for $399 and if you want the flight case it’s a $69 dollar add on...
LaserDock Laser Music Visualizer - Wicked Lasers

Conclusion:

My honest opinion is that it is super cool and I could not make one. But if I tried, it would cost me more than the price of the unit.

The software is free, plus it can be used with your mobile phone too!

The free software is quite impressive. There are 69 different visualizations in there. Plus 11 different type of sound effects to pair with...

In view of those points, I honestly think it is very reasonably priced... (IMO)

Honestly, all WL past issues aside, if you get your hands on one of these, you will be impressed. At least I am…

Other:

* There is a distributor they are using for U.S. purchases.

* There is obvious eye hazard if you look directly into the laser source or shine at crowds. (supervision needed for kids or for the non-laser informed)

Thanks Jayrob I have been looking into these as my first projector as well, they seem awesome. Have you seen about controlling the animations or is purely driven by music?

Thanks Jayrob I have been looking into these as my first projector as well, they seem awesome. Have you seen about controlling the animations or is purely driven by music?

Just got this thing yesterday and have not had any time to try and create custom stuff but there are some compatible software choices for customization that others have made. (not sure of the cost)

The free software is quite impressive to me though. There are 69 different visualizations in there. (adding this information to the OP)

Plus 11 different type of sound effects to pair with...

See here for some of the other software currently out there:
LaserDock Quick Start Guide

I'm guessing there will be more in the way of software enhancements...

Wow, those are real impressive, don't know much about them. But I'm impressed! Might have to save my pennys and pick one up? The kids would just love them!

Isn't it unbalanced? The red power seems way too low.

According to the specs yes your right and I thought the same...

But the red specs must be wrong because the output is not unbalanced at all. Or possibly the red colors are not just red alone but have some of the other lasers helping.

In any case, the reds, oranges, yellows are all really bright. That video is awesome, but in person it is way brighter. Much more impressive in person...
