hi everybody, this is my first review on a laser, and i don't have a good camera so this review is gonna be kinda boring, but it might be helpful to.

anyways, i had been looking all over for a place that had a high quality, decent power green laser so i decided to go for this one at 100mw with an IR filter. i dont have a laser power meter but i dont feel like it is to spec, however i have absolutely no way of measuring, thats just comparing it to my old crappy 303 green laser from laserpoint.com that was supposedly 200mW, which (i think) was brighter, and much more stable. this laser is very weird in terms of stability, its very unstable and is always changing brightness for like the first 30 seconds that its turned on, then its fine, and i dont think its becuase its warming up, there might be something wrong with it, but i dont have much experience with lasers, so who knows.

when defocused the beam looks terrible, it morphs into random shapes while "warming up" and has a weird halo around the central dot (again, while defocused) this is too bright to take a picture of however. this might be because its minnesota, (its cold here) but i might have also gotten a crappy laser, who knows, customer service is very adamant about it being a temperature related problem, and i kind of agree, but its still iffy.

the host is fantastic though, for safety features (that meet the FDA's standards) it has a lock on the side, a shutter on the front, and a pin-thing in the back (i don't know what its called) that, when removed, does not allow the laser to function. it is rock solid, and does not budge a half of a millimeter anywhere.

the shipping was crazy fast, they didn't update me at all about the times when it was being built or completed like they should have, but it got here like 5 days after i ordered it (with DHL shiping, the best shipping ever for international, by far) so im happy.

the laser beam comes out at a really odd angle, definitely not straight, but that doesn't bother me.

the "lasing action" 7/10

host 10/10

customer service 6/10

shipping and such 10/10

overall, i don't feel like i spent 137$ on this laser, i feel like i spent 50$ on another crappy laser from china. this is the first time i have had a laser from a company with a good reputation, so this was probably just a fluke. this was a C+ if i were to grade it. overall, i would get something from them again, but not a DPSS laser (they be crazy), and if it didn't meet my low standards i wouldn't buy another one. sorry laserbtb, not impressed with this one.

PS: im only being hard on this laser because i had a 30$ 303 that i strongly believe would outperform it. and yes, i do have safety glasses, and i do use them in case anyone was wondering about the "judging the laser by how bright it is" thing (which i know is not safe)

heres a video of the output: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKkVj9N6wdc

It's not odd for a 30 second warm up at all with random power shifts/mode hops. And yes with it being cold it definitely wouldn't help for the 532nm. As for the beam not being straight that on the other hand would be a disappointment. To me at least.

Hm sounds not what people get from them, they usually overspec their lasers, can u try different batteries? if u have crappy ones its gonna look like the laser is weak and not upto spec... i have a 100mW 520 laser and its bright as hell indoors when its total dark, i asume a 532 should be just as bright to the eye if not a little more even.. Mail them otherwise and ask about the power graph, i think they meter all their lasers but they dont add them to the lasers when they ship out for some reason.

Mail them and ask what they think about the hopping problem, could be that laser got defective during shipping, since a 532 is more sensitive then a diode laser.

Can u take a some beam pics with your cellphone? better then nothing..

no, the laser is too bright for my crappy tablet camera, i can ask if can use my fathers nicer camera but i doubt i will be able to. we'll see though, if i can ill get it uploaded to youtube as fast as possible.

Have you tried running it at diff. temps? Some DPSS like it cold, while others like it hot.

-Alex
yeah ive tried it hot and cold, hot (warmed up in my pocket for a while) it was more stable, but it still did a ridiculous warm up, started out dim, then got brighter exponentially in steps, not gradually, then it flashed a few times, then it went to full brightness.

That sure doesnt look normal ive seen many 100mW 532 videos that is something i never seen, i would send the laser back they have warranty this is clearly something maybe happend during shipping the crystals inside got bumped or something maybe,, either way u shouldnt have this problem on a new laser hope they will help u out its clearly a problem for sure, and 100mW isnt that much power for a green now that u can get over 1W of that so to me a lower powered green laser should be alot more stable then that..

send that video to them and see if they think its normal, to me i would never accept a laser behave like that for 100$ or whatever it costs now from them..

hmm, well if it was damaged during shipping it would have been DHL's fault, but the laser seemed to have been packaged poorly, not much bubble wrap, not much padding, so if it had hit something it could have jostled around the laser crystals. also, the beam comes out at an angle, and im my short time with lasers, i have actually messed around with the laser crystals in these DPSS green lasers, and if one of those crystals is off buy a quarter of a millimeter, the beam will come out at a crazy angle, so i think that the laser was damaged during shipping, one of the crystals was moved/broken.

yeah it came in the nice box, but the inside foam is hard, not good for padding, and there was one layer of bubble wrap around it, and that was it (i think).

did u get reply from them yet ? well the box should provide protection as the laser lays inside that cut out i never felt it was bad protection really.

I think 30s for warm up is fine, since is a true high power laser, not all DPSS lasers are the same, I had one 303 that mode hops frequently during warm up, and one that never did this, if after 30s the beam is stable, I think there's no problem.

Just search a bit more what is mode hopping, you will find out why this happens.

-----

About the laser, 100mW isn't really much, most of the Chinese lasers like your 303 are capable of 75~100mW.

well, maybe ill just have to live with it. i still don't like the shape of the output though, it just looks so odd. i don't think that's normal either, do you? i have a video of it on YouTube, i linked it previously.
