Laser Overheating signs ?

Hello, I have 2 questions about M140 diode. first one - What are the signs if laser is overheating ? It will lose power dramatically but are there any other signs ?

Second - In a nutshell, what is the best way to test laser stability without using proper LPM ?

Im trying to build continuous duty cycle M140 module.

2) use...use an LPM....

3 signs that I know of
1. Gets hotter
2. Drops in power rapidly
3. Wavelength increases.

So if you don't have an LPM you could always use an optical spectrometer.
