Hello.
I have an old Sony crx230ee CD burner(that writes 32x on CD-RW and 52x on CD-R) and I took the diode out, do you know by any chance what is the wavelength and the mw for this?

Type the model information into google and you should be able to find a spec sheet for the burner and that should give you some information.....but in the end it will be IR and dangerous. If you decide to use it be cautious.

Yeh, IR, not so good to be experimenting with since it will blind you before you get the chance to say goodbye to your eyes

If you have a local computer shop ask them for a broken/faulty DVD burner and then harvest the diode from it ;)

neat optics, though, and the tiny magnets are great at holding paper on the fridge

I also find uses for those sturdy rails that the sled slides on.

At the very least, it's good practice ;-)

Keep up the good hunt!
