My newstyle 200mW red died. :(

I think the lense may have hit the diode window.

Anyway, is there any way to replace the diode ???

Perhaps with an lpc ??

LOL The know it all does not know how to swap a diode LOL

Do some reading and you'll find your answer.

Nvm, figured out how to open it.

Btw, I know how to swap a diode... Just wasn't sure if the dilda was openable.

Anyone know what current the newstyle driver runs at ???

Can I use the same driver for a lpc ?

Found this using "SEARCH"

These "Dildas" (old or new style) use an unregulated driver, meaning the mA changes somewhat in proportion to the input voltage (hence the 240+ mW results people are getting using 4.2v RCR2's in them) ...

As to the diodes, they're both 5.6mm but you'd be far better off buying a LOC or LCC red diode (or even the entire sled) through the forums for $12-15 and using that as a replacement IMHO, far less hassle and although Dave pushed his dilda to 400mW+ at just over 12VDC the LPC's, etc have a far more established track record and far more accurate info is available on them.

Yea I found that already. It doesn't say if I can reuse the driver....

Also, I never said I "knew it all"

Hell, I know nothing about reds... It's the reason I'm asking...

EDIT: here are the pictures of the current driver.

Can it be reused?

Diode I'm sure. I may have closed the focusing knob too much causing the lens to hit the diode. The diode seems a little bent and there is no glass on it.

Also, it is emitting very faint red light. About 1mW max.

I'll try a 20x LOC diode and see if it works.

Hey its the dilda laser right so maybe the spring caused the damage. I have a dilda too but the lens itself can never touch the diode. Remember what Jayrob and Larry had said...the spring can scrape particles on the lens and diode.

There was never a spring inside it.

I thought you were banned Wes??

I don't think hes anyone you know Tech. Hes the CEO of Screambuy.com

By the way Vinsion, I got the laser today but I must have a bad battery because its bright for the first 5 seconds and then it dims to about 20mw.
