Laser AC power?

Im going to do a small project and I am going to use a AC power converter that goes to 5V. Im going to get some small lasers that have a small driver on them or do not require a driver. With the proper resistors can I hook these up to the power source or do I need a 1N4001 diode also to make it DC power?

Laser Diode is the name of the device and they work off DC.... :

And it better be clean DC...
