This is my second 9mm build and I love this diode, attaching a large aluminium washer on the top of diode helps a lot with longer runs and heat management, at 1 min run I can feel the host getting warm. The Kryton Groove from Budgetbeams is perfect for this diode. The Blitzbuck driver from Survival Laser set at 2.4a and 18350 IMR bats, =a nice handful of laser.

I too enjoy the 7875, it's a robust diode and it produces good energy density with off the shelf lenses, I hold one in each hand when cutting leaf stems no other single diode with off the shelf lenses can match the energy density of 2 x 7875's aimed one focused bar on top of the other, at 10 feet cardboard ignition is virtually guaranteed.

It would be worth using a coupe pairs of OPT lasers cylindrical pairs and cube combining a pair of these, it's on my list of to do's.

Did you have to press fit the diode into the top of the Kryton host? I'm trying to figure out how to go about building my laser in this host, and I've been running into a few issues. So I'm just wondering if you had to do any kind of special tasks with any certain tools to get the diode fit into that piece of the host?

Hi Aniwon

This host is for 9mm diode, and DTR sells diode press tool for that, also Flaminpyro sells them, however you can press the diode in this module with any bolt or piece of offcut rod that has hole in the centre for the pins of the diode to pass in, then gently press in a vice untill the diode is flush with the module, if what you use is wider than the diode you won't have to worry how hard or far you press it will stop when flush with the module, then I applied a custom made aluminium whasher on top of diode with thermal adhesive with pressure until dry.

Hope this helps, let me now.
