Test results of the Sharp GH05C01A9G
Test was performed as all other tests, Sanwu 20T LPM, G2 lens, 21.0°C TEC cooled on DTR 25mm copper module at 20cm distance.
Divergence tests were done with 2E lens, same as all other tests. The diode was remained canned for this test.

I'm a fan of Sharp diodes as I have binned so many by wavelength. Glad to see a new greater than 1 watt green here.

Is the figure stating the wavelength going back down from 517nm at 1 watt to 515nm at 1.5 watts a typo? Also Your graph is showing a GH05C01A9G outputting more than a GH05C01B9G.. I thought the GH05C01A9G was rated at 600mW and the GH05C01B9G was rated at 1W?

Not a typo !
I believe the diode had some sort of internal damage without completely failing, and then recovered.

I've had another diode (this one) that has permanently shifted to 510nm from 520nm after shining into a glass window (a waterproof attempt)

You can tell the crystal is damaged by the sudden power drops and jumps in the graph

Yup! I know, very strange indeed.. I was very surprised by this too!
I think the A9G is just better built than the B9G, taking more abuse when damaged

Keep in mind, these diodes are pushed WAY past their recommended ratings, so they won't behave as we expect.

That was a seriously quick reply! Between 1 and 2 minutes after I posted the second question! (I ended up deleting the second question and instead amended it to the first to avoid double posting in case someone is looking at this wondering why I'm saying this about a post I made yesterday)

No worries :)
I'm going to re-test these two diodes as I'm not satisfied with the A9G being better performing than the B9G.

Yup, will use entirely two different ones just to make sure to get consistent test data
Any updates on the 2nd test? Crazy that the B9G is rated for 600mW at 1A, but that can hit 1.5W at 2.5A?? Very interesting! I would love to see repeated results! I know you’re slammed tho haha

Yeah, I will run these 2 diodes again because I too am unsatisfied with these weird results
