Does anyone have a source for the tiny HeNe power supply that was used in this old thread? http://laserpointerforums.com/f43/hene-laser-lamp-portable-battery-operated-52711.html

I've been looking around and don't see any listed anywhere.

I just bought a VERY large old flashlight have been toying around the idea of of making a handheld porta-HeNe. I have a very tiny little Uniohase tube that I think I could fit with a tiny power supply and still have room for some batteries.

It would be cool if you kept the reflector in and put a glass lens on the front. The tube would go right through the hole in the reflector (probably have to make it bigger) and some of the glow would reflect out the front! Instead of a hene lamp you have a hene flashlight laser ;)

No clue where to get the power supply, sorry. Maybe you could make your own?

Interesting thing about the flashlight, the reflector is metal, but it's got a gray paint / coating on it. Why would anyone make a reflector that doesn't reflect? :wtf:

Anyway I doubt I could manage to build one, I've looked at the schematics listed at SAMs, and they are more then I could take on. Even if I did, it would have to use through the hole parts, since I really can't do surface mount, so my guess is if I could get one built that works, it would still be too big. I may have to email Sam and see if he has any leads on something tiny that will work off batteries.

I'd still need to work out the details of getting everytihng mounted, but it's not like I don't have a huge amount of space in that light. :)
