I just got IR safety goggles for an 808nm laser rated at 700mW. The goggles are OD - 2. Is this a high enough rating for the 700+mW output of the laser? I have used them several times but will definately upgrade if needed

Thanks guys!

They are not really suited to 700mW. Can you use them? Sure but OD3 + would be better. I usually use OD 7+ when working in the infrared. I figure since I cannot see the beam anyway why have any laser light pass to my eye.

Thanks FrothyChimp! Your reasoning for going higher is a smart one too.
