Hi, just got my DX True 30, installed the AAA alkaline batteries that it came with and shined it on the wall about 12 feet away, now for some reason I have a headache! I'm not sure how to tell how powerful this is or how to test the IR filter does anyone have any suggestions? I don't much about about these.

The first time I shone a greenie on a wall, I got a headache as well... It may just be that your brain doesn't like the brightness. 
But since this is a DX laser, I'm hesitant to dismiss it so easily... it may well be you caught an eyefull of IR in the process.
Does anyone else know? I've been fortunate enough that that hasn't happened to me, so I don't know exactly what it causes.

Use a video camera to check for IR in the Dark.
